Devin Hester signs a 4 year extension! And the extension pays well!

It appears that Devin Hester got the contract he wanted, and he can make some good cash. There is $15 million in guaranteed money, and then more for incentives, especially in the last two years of his contract. His contract is now until 2013. And he is happy to stay in Chicago and show what he can do. He is expected to take more offensive snaps this year as well. And in my opinion, he is the most exciting offensive player we have had for a while. With the addition of RB Matt Forte, we should have an exciting season!

Jonathan Toews named 34th Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks

It was announced at the Blackhawks Convention that 20 year old Jonathan Toews would now be the Captain for the Chicago Blackhawks. He is the 3rd youngest person to become a captain of their team in the NHL. And he appears to be a great choice. They say he is a great leader among his peers, although he has been called “Mr. Serious”. It is believed that he has the ability to bring this team back to the playoffs, and yes, maybe even the Stanley Cup (dare we hope, dream?). Jonathan was told of the decision right before the ceremony, so it was a bit of a shock, but I am sure he knew that it would be him soon. The buzz had been going around for quite a while that it would happen before the new season. Well, Captain Toews, we expect great things from you! And I am sure you can do it!

Bears Training Camp: FAMILY NIGHT AT ONU

Come out to Ward Field and watch the Bears practice under the lights. Pre-practice festivities will start at 6pm with giveaways, strolling entertainment, junior training camps, interactive games for kids and much more. Practice starts at 7pm with a spectacular fireworks display to follow.

Happy to see you back Devin Hester! He did not get a new deal on his contract, but he returned to training camp anyway, looking happy. I believe that the Bears will work this out with him however and we will all be happy.

Devin Hester – where are you??

Well, most of you should know by now that Devin Hester has not shown up to training camp. He is holding out for a new contract. And I personally believe he has a point and the Bears should take notice. For a player who has done so much in the 2 short years he has been with the team (c’mon–just look at his stats), his request is not out of line. There are new players with no experience getting much more money than he does and he IS a playmaker. The Bears need to realize his worth and take care of it. Do they want him to sit out all season? After the two seasons he has had in the NFL, he deserves much more.

2009 Winter Classic: Blackhawks vs. Red Wings at Wrigley Field on Jan. 1, 2009

For only the 3rd time ever, for a regular season game, the Blackhawks will play the Red Wings outside, in the cold, where hockey should be played! And Wrigley Field will become ice, rather than grass. The game will be televised, as was last year’s in Buffalo. Normally, Jan. 1 is a college football day for me. Not this time! I would LOVE to go to this game. Maybe I can win the lottery…

Bears Yahoo! Group: ChicagoBearsFanForum

I was in this group, for like at least a year. Never caused trouble either. But today, I decided to change Yahoo! profiles to keep my sports stuff separate from my other stuff, so I would look at it more often. This time, my membership was rejected. And I only upsubbed for about 5 or 10 minutes, and even said why I was changing. I am floored. I don’t know why it bothers me, but it does. I do not understand why, unless they closed the group within that period of time.
